Babyface

Living in the far north, Samson, 13, is a kind-hearted, top student but socially awkward boy. He has learned to make himself smaller so he never hurts anyone’s feelings, not even those of his bully. Yet his greatest dream is anything but small – he wants to become the world’s greatest professional wrestler.

When Samson meets his idol, the eccentric pro wrestler Killer Joe, he gets the mentor of his dreams. Killer Joe, who refuses to follow rules, schedules or anything resembling adulthood, starts teaching him the moves. More importantly, he shows Samson that you can’t step into the ring afraid of what others think. Through their friendship, Samson begins to set boundaries and take up space in his own life.

When Samson gets a chance to perform in a real wrestling show, the pressure becomes too much, and he freezes at the edge of the ring. At home, everything is changing too. His parents separate, and his older sister is accepted to a school far away. If everything around him is changing, what will he have left?

Instead of giving up, Samson pursues his dream. When he is finally ready to step into the ring again, he realizes that even though life changes, he is not alone.
