P

P is a visual journey toward the birth of sound, tracing the creation of an Estonia grand piano from the silence of the forest to the final note.

The film moves like a road movie, tracking raw materials before transitioning into a static observation within the historic factory. In this unique microworld, a symphony emerges from the production process: the rhythm of creaking pines, hammer blows, and the resonance of metal coalesce into an industrial harmony.

The film incorporates Arvo Pärt’s reflections on the profound connection between silence and sound, bridging the gap between nature’s minimalism and human craftsmanship. Using “Dutch angle” shots and specialized microphones to capture internal vibrations, we experience being inside the instrument itself.

The film culminates as the pianist raises their hands, yet ends the moment they touch the keys — leaving the first note to resonate in the viewer’s imagination. P is a poetic reflection on the patience required to turn silence into music.
