Just a Kid

Icelandic family Júlía (16), her mother Diljá (37), and younger sister Emma (8), have just moved to Iceland after living for years in Norway. Diljá relies on Julia’s support with the care of her sister so that she can work.

Júlía spends most of her time at school with Ívar (17). They have been dating for some time, but when Ivar wants to become more intimate, after a drunken night together, Julia ends the relationship.

Júlía is a little lost, but meets Salka (19), a confident and prominent student at the school, who is taking over the school newspaper. Júlía is completely captivated. She signs up to join the newspaper team and spends all her time with Salka and the newspaper group, often in conflict with her duties at home, where she is expected to take care of her sister.

As Julia gets closer to Salka, then so her personal life / home life conflict heightens, and as she loses control, she is forced to confront what really happened during her drunken night with Ívar.
