Introducing three brand new awards

FFA celebrates outstanding fiction, documentary, series and short projects with seven terrific awards sponsored by the Finnish Film Foundation, City of Helsinki, Konstsamfundet, Post Control Helsinki, Angel Films, MIDPOINT Institute, Connecting Cottbus, and Göteborg Film Festival.

This year, FFA has branched out to include three new awards: the MIDPOINT Consulting Award, the Connecting Cottbus Producers Exchange, and full market accreditations to Göteborg Film Festival.

The MIDPOINT Consulting Award provides an in-depth online script consultancy with one of the MIDPOINT Institute’s experts, designed specifically for the selected project, which will be chosen from FFA’s Fiction in Development series.

Connecting Cottbus (coco) handpicks one of the producers from Thursday’s showcase day  to take part in cocoLAB at their East West co-production market and networking platform dedicated to Eastern European cinema.

In collaboration with Göteborg Film Festival, one fiction feature project will be chosen by the Nordic Film Market team to attend the Göteborg Film Festival with full market accreditations.

This year’s edition once again features the familiar award categories, each designed to support projects on their way to international audiences.

The Best Fiction Project award, sponsored by the Finnish Film Foundation, grants €3000 for the international marketing of a project in the Fiction in Progress series. The Best Documentary Project award, supported by the City of Helsinki, also awards €3000 for the international marketing of a film from the Documentaries section. The Best Nordic Project award, sponsored by the arts fund Konstsamfundet, provides €3000 for the international promotion of a project from the Nordic Selection. The Best Fiction Project award, The Best Documentary Project award, and the Best Nordic Project award are all cash prizes.

The Best F-Weird Project award is 2500€ worth of colour grading services that will go towards the project’s international marketing, as well as 2500€ worth of production services, sponsored by Post Control Helsinki & Angel Films.

Post Control Helsinki is Finland’s leading post-production house, offering color grading, sound design, editing, data management, mastering, and through its daughter company VFX Helsinki, world-class visual effects. With a team of over 35 post-production experts, they bring projects of every scale to life and deliver seamlessly to international platforms, broadcasters, and other industry partners.
