FFA Opens 2026 Call For Projects
The 15th Finnish Film Affair (FFA) invites project applications from feature films and documentaries with international potential. The Showcase Day, taking place on Thursday, 24 September, offers an opportunity to present projects to international industry professionals and network with guests ranging from sales agents and co-producers to investors and festival programmers.
Pitching categories at FFA are Fiction in Progress, Fiction in Development, Nordic Selection, Documentaries, and Series. FFA’s TV Series category is curated in collaboration with Audiovisual Producers Finland, whilst Nordic Selection films are chosen in collaboration with Nordic film institutes. Finland’s entry for the Nordic Selection category may be chosen from eligible applications submitted through the open call. Applications are accepted from projects produced in Finland as well as projects in which Finland is a minority production country.
To be eligible, fiction projects must be in development, in production, or in an early stage of post-production. Nordic Selection and Documentary projects are eligible if they are in production and therefore have filmed material available to show during the showcase.
Fiction in Progress and Nordic Selection projects are allocated an 8-minute pitch slot and may be presented using mood reels, selected filmed footage, or teasers and trailers. Fiction in Development projects have a shorter pitch slot of 4 minutes each. Documentary and Series pitches are allocated 8 minutes each.
An international jury composed of industry professionals will go through the projects applying to FFA’s Showcase Day and provide constructive feedback to all eligible projects that have applied, even those not chosen. In total, approximately 35 projects will be selected to present at the Showcase Day and will receive pitch coaching on project presentation before taking the stage. During the event, a jury will determine the winners of several awards, details of which will be announced in the coming months.
The 15th Finnish Film Affair will take place in Helsinki from 23–25 September 2026, and is attended yearly by the likes of SXSW, Tribeca, MUBI, LevelK, SF Studios and Variety. Finnish Film Affair is the industry event of Helsinki International Film Festival – Love &
Anarchy, held from 17-27 September.
Application deadline: Friday, 12 June 2026.
